Ben Affleck just stirred up a wave of nostalgia and curiosity with one thoughtful remark, and it’s got Marvel fans wondering: What would happen if his Daredevil ever crossed paths with Jon Bernthal’s gritty Punisher?
In a recent conversation, the actor behind the 2003 version of the blind vigilante shared how that hypothetical face-off might unfold. And spoiler alert, it’s not the intense showdown you'd expect.
Since Affleck and Bernthal's The Accountant 2 is fast approaching, the co-stars sat in an interview together where they were asked if their versions of Daredevil and Punisher would ever go "toe-to-toe".
Instead of teasing a dramatic battle, Affleck spoke highly of Bernthal's iconic role and said:
"Well, his Punisher is good... There's a new Daredevil I haven't seen it yet but... I love the character I wish the best and but you know I wouldn't tangle with his punisher."
The Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice star praised Jon Bernthal's portrayal of Punisher and clarified that his blind vigilante won't tangle with Punisher. The actor credited Kevin Feige with bringing a much-needed sense of purpose and clarity to Marvel’s storytelling.

Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal's Daredevil and Punisher won't mess with each other
While fans are gearing up for the Daredevil: Born Again finale, Ben Affleck (who played the iconic character before Charlie Cox in a 2003 movie) and Jon Bernthal, the actor behind Punisher, sat in an interview where Affleck explained that his version won't mess with Punisher in the MCU.
This way, the Hypnotic star acknowledged his co-star Jon Bernthal's powerful portrayal. The character played a major role in advancing the narrative in the Netflix series, and Punisher's influence can also be sensed in Cox's ongoing series.
Surprisingly, Jon Bernthal first turned down the idea of reprising his role in the Disney+ show. The actor previously explained in another interview:
"I didn't see the version of Frank, and what they wanted from Frank [didn't] really make sense to me and I thought would not appeal to the fans and wouldn't be congruent."
However, when Dario Scardapane (The Punisher) joined the project, Jon Bernthal ultimately reprised his role in Daredevil: Born Again Episode 4.
As of now, Bernthal has only shown up in one episode, and the finale is almost here. It would be intriguing to watch Bernthal once again appear as the popular Marvel character before Season 1 wraps up.
