The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle has joined reality TV as she debuted on Netflix with her show With Love, Meghan earlier this month. Hosting a variety of celebrities, with the likes of Mindy Kaling, Victoria Jackson, and Roy Choi, the show has already reached one of the top spots on the streaming giant. It is all set to return with a second season later this year.

Directed by Michael Steed, the show currently has eight episodes streaming online, where Meghan is involved in various activities like hiking, cooking, and planning parties. The show follows the Duchess as she talks about her personal life and shares details of her family with Prince Harry and their kids.

Talking about the new season, Markle said,

“Oh, how I love ASMR! If you’re loving Season 1, wait until you see the fun we cooked up in Season 2! Thanks for joining the party, and an endless thanks to the amazing team and crew who helped bring it all to life!”

Although it attracted a large number of viewers, it has not exactly received largely positive views. The show debuted with less than satisfactory numbers and has received criticism online as well. A contributing factor to the negative reviews is the Duchess' less-than-popular image among the general public. The show has received a 35% score on Rotten Tomatoes and has also been scored with low stars by major publications like The Guardian.

Despite the backlash, it showcases Markle's popularity as it reached Netflix's list of top ten TV shows.

Meghan Markle is not exactly new to this genre. She has previously published her own website, The Tig, where she talked about various topics before eventually shutting it down later. The host is also known for her role as Rachel Zane on the show Suits.

Producers for the show include Chanel Pysnik, the show's showrunner Leah Hariton, Aaron Saidman, and Eli Holzman along with Meghan. The show was shot at a farmhouse close to Meghan and Harry's home in Montecito, California.

This happens to be the second time Meghan Markle is collaborating with Netflix. She has previously been a part of Harry & Meghan, a documentary series where the couple opened up on their lives following their exit from royal duties and as they navigated through life with their two children. The documentary featured multiple interviews with their friends and acquaintances and ended up becoming the biggest debut for a documentary on the streaming site.

Before With Love, Meghan, the Duke collaborated with Netflix on a series about the polo sport called Polo. The five-episode first season was released in December 2024.

With Love, Meghan and Polo are both available to stream on Netflix.
