The most recent episode of Will Trent season three was titled Regarding the Death of Whitney McAdams, and as the name suggests, it concerned itself with a winding mystery involving the disappearance and subsequent murder of an otherwise bright young teenage girl.
On the other hand, this Will Trent episode also saw the protagonist navigating through his often intersecting personal and professional life as the weight of having his partner's son working as an informant for the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) weighed down heavily on him.

Whitney McAdams was a teenage girl who was considered to be a bright student, as she had been selected for MIT. Trent and Faith are called upon to investigate Whitney's disappearance after the case falls into their lap directly from the Director of GBI. Upon reaching Whitney's house, Trent rules out the initial possibilities of Whitney going out to party and the like. The episode took a shocking turn for the sinister when Whitney's lifeless corpse was found along with the murder weapon—a bloodied shovel.
As the investigation progressed, Will Trent followed up the lead gained from Whitney's cell phone, leading the detectives directly to Elijah, who is a thirty-two-year-old choreographer at the Bell Rose League dance academy. After questioning the choreographer and the other students in the academy, Will and Faith finally chance upon Tasha, who reveals herself as a close friend of the late Whitney.
It was then revealed that despite being studious and conservative, Whitney was in the habit of keeping secrets from her parents. After interrogating Jayden, the person she was hooking up with, Trent and Faith have a breakthrough when they sift through security footage and discover a vehicle waiting by Whitney's residence just before the time of her death.

It is finally revealed that Whitney was brutally murdered by Tasha's stepfather, Gavin. The motivation behind this was the fact that following the death of Tasha's mother, all of her wealth passed on to Tasha. Gavin was determined to keep this wealth for himself and sought to establish Tasha as someone who is incapable of caring for herself. He was also in an illicit relationship with Lorraine, the director of the dance academy. When Whitney discovered his ruse and filmed footage of him being intimate with Lorraine, she had to be taken out of the way.
