Will there be The Terror season 3? Renewal details of AMC's supernatural-horror and more explained

It appears there's good news for fans of AMC's The Terror as the show received an official renewal. Per Variety, although there's no official release date, the show is confirmed to return in 2025. It is reportedly going to be centered around the novel, The Devil in Silver written by renowned author Victor LaValle.

Hence, season 3 is set to be known as The Terror: The Devil in Silver. Per the publication, Chris Cantwell is set to be the writer and executive producer for the upcoming season 3 of the show. Additionally, he's set to be joined by many others to direct and produce the show including Karyn Kusuma, David Zucker, Guymon Casady, and others.

Speaking to the publication, Dan McDermott gave a brief anecdote about the upcoming season. He claimed,

"The Devil in Silver offers a perfect opportunity for a new installment of this popular and critically acclaimed anthology."

In McDermott's statement, he continued to express his gratitude toward the remainder of his band of producers and episode directors. Additionally, he admitted to looking forward to working with them once more after the success of the first two installments.


What is the plot of The Terror season 3?

According to the official synopsis of the show, season 3 features a new protagonist - Pepper. He's described as a disgruntled individual part of the working class. Through his misfortune, he winds up at the New Hyde Psychiatric Hospital which is an institute for society's outlaws in the series.

Perhaps his greatest challenge, Pepper must survive the maniacal plots against him from doctors and patients. During his grim encounters with truly malicious personalities, he eventually meets the root of all things evil - the Devil.

Living within the facade of Hyde's Psychiatric Hospital, Pepper will be facing his greatest advisory - a demon that thrives on the misery of his fellow patients at the hospital. Could it be that his worst enemy might end up being himself? The upcoming season of the series is set to explore that very question.

Speaking to the publication, Chris Cantwell claimed that season 3 of The Terror is reportedly inspired by real instances. Furthermore, he expressed his thrill in delivering one of the most haunting installments of the show. In a statement he said,

"We look forward to scaring the living daylights out of all of you very soon..."

While the writers and producers emphasize the fear factor of The Terror, fans of the horror genre cannot wait to be scared out of their minds.


Cast for season 3 of The Terror

Momentarily, only the lead actor for season 3 has been announced: Dan Stevens. The actor is set to play the protagonist of the show - Pepper, a misjudged and short-tempered man cast away in a psychiatric hospital for society's forgotten.

Only time will tell whether Stevens is the perfect Pepper or not, but given his track record - he's going to cook in the movie. Stevens is known for his role in shows such as Downton Abbey, The Guest, Abigal, Legion, and many others. His adaptability and ability to personify his raw emotions make him a great choice for the role. More details about the cast are soon to follow.


What happened in seasons 1 and 2 of The Terror?

The horror franchise first haunted viewers back in 2018 and featured a true story involving a British Expedition's quest to uncover a Northwest Passage. During their journey they end up in several tumultuous and dark situations, leading them to their doom.

Season 2 of The Terror: Infamy followed a twisted and mind-bending tale of the tragic World War II days. The story revolves around the paranormal experiences of Japanese-American men placed at internment camps. The second season of the show was released in 2019 and continues to leave an eerie experience for viewers.


Where to watch The Terror season 3?

Per the aforementioned publication, season 3 of the successful show is set to debut on AMC and AMC+. It will be available to stream on other platforms including Netflix. However, the dates for streaming are yet to be announced.
