Former Impractical Jokers cast member, Joe Gatto, was accused of s*xual assault by a TikTok user, "joozyb." She claimed that the incident happened in September 2023 at a hotel after she met Gatto at one of his shows. She said:
"I was drunk, whatever, and he was texting me all this stuff. And, like, it was starting to get a little weird, you know?"
The TikToker alleged that the comedian had reconciled with his wife. She claimed that the alleged assault happened in his hotel room.
According to Screen Rant, Joe Gatto left the reality TV show in 2021 to be with his family. On January 1, 2022, he shared an Instagram post writing:
“I just wanted to let you all know that I will no longer be involved with Impractical Jokers. Alongside my friends, I’ve devoted a decade of my life to building this franchise and couldn’t be prouder of what has been accomplished."
The post continued:
"However, due to some issues in my personal life, I have to step away. Bessy and I have decided to amicably part ways, so now I need to focus on being the best father and co-parent to our two incredible kids.”
Joe Gatto expressed that, aside from his family, his bond with Murr, Q, and Sal had been meaningful. He believed they would continue bringing laughter, and acknowledged the crew who made the show possible.
He thanked his fans for their support, sharing that making people laugh through Impractical Jokers had been rewarding. As he navigated personal challenges, he looked forward to finding new ways to entertain audiences.
Joe Gatto said he never watched an episode of Impractical Jokers
In October 2024, Joe Gatto appeared on the Bobby Bones Show, where he was asked how the show came about. He recounted how he and his friends formed a comedy ensemble. For years, they tried to get their big break in television. The group, formed in 1999, had known each other since high school.
Eventually, they decided to create a show based on how they make each other laugh, instead of mainstream pranks that could upset people. The concept revolved around playing jokes on one another in a way that entertained the audience. Subsequently, what started as a single episode turned into nearly a decade on air.
According to Screen Rant, Joe Gatto shared that he was in touch with everyone from the show. However, he hasn’t watched an episode since leaving. He explained that even when he was part of it, he never watched it on TV, but only the edited versions while working on production. He said he didn’t feel the need to keep watching after he was no longer involved in the editing work.
Meanwhile, Joe Gatto denied the s*xual assault allegations but admitted to making poor decisions that broke the trust of those closest to him. However, he stated that anyone who truly knew him would understand that. He also shared that self-improvement was an ongoing journey and announced plans to step away from the public spotlight to focus on personal growth.
