The third season of The White Lotus continues its journey replete with high-end resorts and multi-million dollar vacations. As has been the custom with the previous seasons of The White Lotus, the third installment too features an unexpected cameo from professor, financial consultant and media personality Scott Galloway. This is in keeping with the cameo appearances made by Survivor alumni in the first two seasons of the Prime Video show.
Scott Galloway made a surprising cameo on the third episode of The White Lotus season three. Although Galloway didn't appear in person on-screen, his voice was heard in a telephone conversation with the character of Timothy Ratliff, played by actor Jason Isaacs. As the most recent episode illustrated, Timothy Ratliff's past financial dealings with Kenny are now threatening to land him in hot waters over allegations of money laundering.
Being pressed by circumstances, Ratliff consults his counsel voiced by Professor Galloway, who in turn advises him to be careful and patient. Here's everything that we know.
What does Scott Galloway's cameo mean for The White Lotus season 3?
Professor Galloway's surprise cameo in the Prime Video show's latest season goes a long way in establishing the real world context of the narrative. Showrunner Mike White cleverly situates his subtext of global financial dynamics and power politics by having one of the most esteemed financial and economic commentators of our times make a cameo appearance as a counsel advising Ratliff about financial fraud.
Galloway is a celebrated Professor of Marketing at NYU's Stern School of Business. Apart from this, he frequently appears on the podcast The Prof G Pod with Scott Galloway. His cameo appearance as Ratliff's counsel Chuck once again establishes his pop-culture appeal, as has already been proven by the popularity of his podcasts.
Galloway recently revealed in his podcast that Jason Isaacs helped him perfect his cameo. Galloway went on to add that Isaacs approached him out of his own accord and spent an hour with him in his studio so that the professor could perfectly deliver his lines.
What is the financial fraud committed by Timothy Ratliff?
Timothy Ratliff's entire wealth and possessions are now under threat of being seized as he might face penalties for having once been involved in a money laundering scam along with his friend Kenny. It all began on the Prime Video show with the revelation that the Wall Street Journal was trying to speak with Ratliff regarding their scoop about his involvement in the Sho-Kel incident.
After initially brushing it aside, Ratliff was forced to take the story seriously when the Washington Post followed it up and contacted him. The show subsequently revealed that Ratliff had once made his ten million off the Sho-Kel scheme along with his friend Kenny. The scheme involved money laundering and cases of bribery involving the Brunei government.
The White Lotus season three is exclusively available on Prime Video.
