Netflix's Emily in Paris is all set to begin filming its fifth season in May this year in Rome, before returning to Paris this summer. However, Camille Razat, who played Camille in the first four seasons, will allegedly not be returning for the upcoming season, and Thalia Besson's role as Genevieve is unconfirmed.
Razat's name was missing from Netflix's list of returning cast members, although both Netflix and Razat are yet to confirm the news. Creator of the series, Darren Star, while speaking to TV Line in September 2024, commented on the future of Razat's role in the series:
"Characters can come in and out of a series, but you don't necessarily have to see them. We may or may not. I don't know how much of Camille we'll see next season. But again, she's part of the world of the series. I'm not sure how soon we'll see her, but it doesn't mean, again, that we won't be seeing her."
The returning cast includes Lily Collins in the role of Emily Cooper, Mindy Chen as Ashley Park, Lucas Bravo as Gabriel, Lucien Laviscount as Alfie, Eugene Franceschini as Marcello, Phillipine Leroy-Beaulieu as Sylvie, Samuel Arnold as Julien, and Bruno Gouery as Luc.
The fourth season ends with Camille ending her wedding to Gabriel after realizing that he still has feelings for Emily. However, Camille is pregnant with his child, which caused issues between Gabriel and Emily. Later, Camille learns that she had a false pregnancy, but tries to convince Gabriel to adopt a child, but Gabriel declines, and Camille moves out of his apartment.
Is Thalia Besson returning as Genevieve in Emily in Paris season 5?
While Thalia Besson and Netflix have not confirmed or denied her return as Genevieve in Emily in Paris season 5, the actress has yet to sign on for the upcoming season.
Besson was introduced in season 4 as Laurent G's daughter from New York. Besson also showed an interest in Gabriel. While speaking to Deadline in September 2024, Darren Star talked about Besson's character in the series:
"I think there's a reason to sort of love and hate Genevieve, but I think they're very different characters. I think Camille and Gabrielle had a lot of history, but I think Genevieve just has her own agenda. She's really just, she's young, ambitious and thinking about herself."
As per Variety, Emily in Paris' upcoming season will pick up days after Emily's move to Rome to lead her marketing agency, Savoir's Rome office.
