Lydia McLaughlin Stirling was already mourning her mother’s death
Lydia McLaughlin Stirling had joined the cast of Real Housewives of Orange County alongside her mother, Judy Stirling during the reality show’s 8th season, with Lydia joining the cast in Season 12 as well. Judy passed away just over six months ago, in October 2024, succumbing to breast cancer, according to People Magazine.

To honor her late mother, Lydia had set up a celebration of life ceremony, which remembered Judy through an uplifting gathering full of all of her favorite things such as glitter and tiaras, among other things, according to US Weekly.
Lydia spoke about the ceremony on her Instagram page, writing,
“We celebrated my beautiful moms life this weekend with a lot of love, confetti and glitter. I find it difficult to put into words my broken heart. I am thankful for the outpouring of love and support. I am grateful to not grieve alone. I am honored to be her daughter and will forever carry her in my spirit. ”
US Weekly noted that Lydia’s RHOC co-star, Lizzie Rovsek, who was also at the ceremony, wrote,
“The most beautiful celebration for @OCJudyMom. Judy, you are so loved. Your light touched so many. You were pure joy. @OCLydia, such a special, beautiful day celebrating your mom. I was honored to know her. I love you my sweet friend.”
Just a few days ago, Lydia McLaughlin Stirling took to Instagram to remember her late mother on the six month anniversary of Judy’s passing. She wrote,
"Today marks 6 months since my mom passed away. I have gone to a beautiful group called Grief Share which has helped me in my healing and processing my grief. It’s a nationwide group if anyone needs support, I recommend them. Grief can make you better or bitter. I am putting in my whole heart to turn my sorrow into thanksgiving, for having the privilege to have such a beautiful mom. She will always be my hero, and my favorite.”
Jesse Stirling, Lydia and Geoffrey’s brother, also commented on the post, writing,
"We keep it real in Grief Share. Miss you mom!”
With Geoffrey’s passing, the Stirlings have to unfortunately contend with the sudden loss of yet another member of their family.
