It is not easy returning to a successful Netflix show like Wednesday. The supernatural comedy series, the first season of which was released in 2022, depicts Wednesday Addams in a new light. It was an overnight success, and Emma Myers, who played Enid Sinclair on the show, was highly praised for her performance. As the actress returned to film the second season on Wednesday, she expressed apprehension about playing the role again.
Playing a main character on Netflix comes with its responsibilities. If that is paired with working with Tim Burton, it is normal for an actor to be nervous. As Myers told Variety,
“I was kind of scared to go back, because I remember watching scenes of myself from Season 1 and being like, ‘I don’t know if I can re-create this now. It’s been so long,'... But when we got to the table read, it immediately came back, like nothing had changed. I think I’ve lived with Enid for so long, it comes very naturally now.''

Viewers might think it is strange for actors not to return to their characters in subsequent seasons, since often, they barely change. However, Myers reasoned otherwise:
“Also, there’s no harm in changing things up, because [Enid] has changed over the summer. She’s grown, and she’s become more comfortable with herself.”
Speaking about working with Tim Burton, Emma Myers said,
“I think Season 1, everybody was quite nervous around him because we’re like, ‘Ah, it’s Tim Burton. Don’t let him get upset with you — just be good. He’s so iconic,’... But over the course of Season 1, we were just like, ‘Oh wait, he’s just the coolest guy ever. He’s so chill.’ … He’s very open to things — he loves rehearsing and going with the scenes based on how we rehearsed.”
There has been quite a discussion regarding the character Xavier Thorpe not returning to Wednesday Season 2. He was a focal part of the first season and played the antagonist. However, in 2023, the actor who played him, Percy Hynes White, faced sexual assault allegations and has thus not been recast in the new season. Fans are curious to see how Season 2 will play out without Xavier. When asked about the same, Emma Myers responded by stating,
“I feel like the script goes in a very specific direction that it’s not a big worry,” Myers says of the absent characters. “This season especially is so character driven, and there’s so much happening. It just makes so much sense to have the characters we have and to have the story we have. I think fans will appreciate it.”
Wednesday Season 2 comes out on Netflix in 2025. However, the date has not been confirmed yet.
