The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 2 is all set to hit the television screens soon, continuing the journey of Negan and Maggie as they end up on opposite sides while fighting for their survival.

Negan, played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, debuted in the sixth season of the original series and has since been seen as a dark and antagonistic character who is a brutal leader. However, we will be seeing a different version of the character soon.

In an interview with ScreenRant, Jeffrey Dean Morgan has revealed that The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 2 will portray a kinder shade of Negan, which has not been depicted before:

"With Dead City, I don't know that it's the last year at all, but I think it's forming this character who, when we first met him, was the worst person in the world. And as time has gone by, we see a different side of him."

Jeffrey Dean Morgan added that he often plays characters who seem dark on the surface. However, the audiences eventually get to know the real and softer side of them. He said the same is the case in The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 2:

"I always come out of the box real f**** dark, and then you find out that there's another side to him. I think that this year, we'll find out yet another side of Negan and his relationship, and how that works with Maggie in this world of post-apocalyptic New York. And, you know, the story continues. It's going to be a fun year."

The post-apocalyptic horror drama is a direct sequel to The Walking Dead, taking place years after the events of the original series. It follows Maggie and Negan as they head to Manhattan to find the former’s son, who has been kidnapped. Meanwhile, zombies and other threats make their survival difficult.

Apart from Jeffrey Dean Morgan, the show stars Lauren Cohan as Maggie Greene, Gaius Charles as Perlie Armstrong, Lisa Emery as The Dama, Dascha Polanco as Lucia Narvaez, Mahina Napoleon as Ginny, Željko Ivanek as The Croat, and Kim Coates as Bruegel.

Created by Eli Jorné, The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 2 will premiere on AMC on May 4, 2025. Contrary to the first season, which featured six episodes, the second installment comprises eight episodes, which will be aired weekly.
