Owen Hendrick’s thrilling journey in the world of espionage ended with The Recruit Season 2, as Netflix has officially canceled the TV series. The story follows Noah Centineo in the leading role of a newly hired CIA lawyer who unexpectedly falls into high-stakes espionage and faces life-threatening challenges.

The Recruit Season 1 focused on Owen crossing paths with Max Meladze, a former CIA asset who demands her release from prison. Max has been threatening to expose sensitive agency secrets, and to solve this critical issue, the CIA lawyer is forced into a dangerous game of deception, intelligence, and survival.

Following the success of the first chapter, Netflix offered another season filled with action and suspense, and despite its popularity, the show was canceled. However, The Recruit producers, Adam Ciralsky and Gene Klein, remain hopeful. While talking about the series, Klein said (via ScreenRant):

"We love the show, and we'd love to be able to do more."

The Recruit is now among the well-received Netflix series being cut short. The platform has canceled several intriguing shows like The OA, Mindhunter, and more.

Even though Netflix has decided not to move forward with The Recruit Season 3, producer Gene Klein doesn't seem to have abandoned the show. As previously mentioned, Klein expressed hope for the thrilling story and would love to continue to tell more of Owen Hendrick's quests.

Additionally, the series cancellation was bad news not only for fans but also for Colton Dunn, who portrayed Lester Kitchens. The actor took to his Instagram Threads and wrote:

"The Recruit has been cancelled yall. Such a bummer. I’ll share some pics and fun memories on IG but just wanted you to hear it from me. Thanks if you watched. I’m AVAILABLE NOW! Hire me for you tv story!!"

While Kitchens expressed disappointment over Netflix's decision, he also joked about being available for new projects, signaling his openness to future TV roles.

As for Noah Centineo, the To All the Boys I Loved Before star, the filming of season 2 was "so insanely fun," and while he was discussing the show with Deadline, Centineo praised the story:

"I find it to be cool and interesting, and it moves quickly. I always wonder if Alexi’s going to jump forward many years if we get a third or fourth [season] but I think that’s engaging, I think it’s cool to watch a character grow day by day."

The actor appreciated the fast-paced nature of his show as it kept moving forward with Owen Hendrick's journey. His statement suggests that Centineo was also not aware that Netflix would cancel the series after Season 2.
