Suits LA is the highly-awaited spin-off of the hit legal drama Suits. While the show focuses on a fresh set of characters, Gabriel Macht is going to reprise his role as the iconic Harvey Specter in a few episodes, bridging the gap between the original show and the spin-off.

Gabriel has now talked about why he decided to return as Harvey in Suits LA. The actor had an interview with Variety where he revealed he is coming back due to the fans’ love and because he wanted to support the new series:

“I did think about the fans, and that was ultimately the reason I turned around and said, ‘You know what? I think it’s maybe the right thing. I wanted to support the launch of this show."

Gabriel Macht talks about his return as Harvey Specter in Suits LA

Suits LA recently had its premiere in Los Angeles, where Gabriel Macht opened up about his return as Harvey Specter. The actor said he did not say ‘yes’ to the offer right away and contemplated various aspects before deciding to return:

“It was a ‘let me think about it.’ Let me see if it makes sense for where I’m at creatively. What other creative things are going on and what is the story? What are the stories that we’re telling?”

Gabriel added that he ultimately chose to reprise his role because of Harvey’s fans and to show support for the spin-off. The actor played the fan-favorite character in all the nine seasons of Suits, which aired from 2011 to 2019. The character is known for his strong stance, witty one-liners, and stylish personality.

Harvey is going to be seen in three episodes of the first season of Suits LA. The actor has not yet filmed his scenes, which hints that he might be seen in the latter part of the season. In his interview, Gabriel also talked about how Harvey fits into the narrative of the new show and said:

“I can tell you that there’s some flashbacks. There’s a relationship that Harvey and Ted had in the D.A.‘s office. And I can tell you that they’re cut from the same [cloth], and they have a deep friendship. They look out for each other.”

While the original series was set in New York, the spin-off takes the narrative to Los Angeles, where Ted Black, a former federal prosecutor, establishes a law firm that deals with clients based in the entertainment industry. The show stars Stephen Amell, Josh McDermitt, Lex Scott Davis, and Bryan Greenberg in the main roles.

Suits LA is all set to premiere on NBC on February 23, 2025.
