Veteran actor James Spader is officially confirmed to return as the menacing and hyper-advanced robot Ultron in the upcoming 2026 Marvel series Vision, on Disney + per Hollywood Reporter.

Previously, viewers thought he'd made his final appearance in WandaVision.

The project was announced earlier this year with all the other Marvel projects. Vision is yet to receive an official release date from the streaming platform.

However, filming for the series is reportedly set to commence sometime next year. As per Hollywood Reporter, the Vision entourage is heading to England to film the show.

Spader made his first villainous appearance in Avengers: Age of Ultron back in 2015. His performance as the Adamantium-coated anti-hero grasped the attention of hardcore Marvel fans who knew him from the comics.

More about Ultron's story is set to be unraveled in the upcoming Vision series which is the third installment of the WandaVision series.

When will Vision be released?

Marvel's Vision is set to release nearly two years later in 2026 with no official release date announced by the superhero hub. The series was first announced in 2022 along with other Marvel projects. As emphasized, the show will be available exclusively on Disney + after its release.

What is the plot of Vision?

Vision will solely be centered around the protagonist 'Vision's' return in the aftermath of Avengers: Infinity War. Additionally, it will pick up where WandaVision left off with a whole new challenge for the allegedly reborn android.

As mentioned, with Ultron back in the picture, the upcoming Disney + show is set to thrill viewers and the Marvel fandom. Apart from news about the series, Marvel is yet to reveal further details about the plot of the show.

The cast of Disney Plus's Vision

Disney +'s Vision will see Paul Bettany reprise his role as the iconic android Vision from the Avengers franchise. Furthermore, as mentioned Spader will be returning as 'Ultron.'

Since Vision is set in the timeline post WandaVision, the studio is rumored to bring back Scarlet Witch - Elizabeth Olsen. However, the remainder of the cast list remains unknown. The show may feature other characters from the comics whose actors are yet to be announced.

When did Ultron last appear?

The megalomaniac Ultron last appeared in a cameo during an episode of WandaVision. However, his more prominent appearance was in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Ultron was a product of Tony Stark's (Iron Man) greatest, most dangerous, and unintended creation.

Born of the Tesseract, Ultron hungered for freedom. But, to Ultron, freedom came at the cost of global genocide. Using the twins' (Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch) hatred for Stark, he manipulates them to initially bring down the entire team.

Eventually, the team and the twins cooperate to destroy Ultron and his army of droids.

Spader will be returning to his role nearly 10 years after the movie aired. However, while Ultron's villainy is a given, his character's role in Vision remains a mystery for now.

Is there a trailer for Vision?

While not a complete trailer, during San Diego's Comic Con, Marvel dropped a teaser of Vision featuring Bettany and Spader's Ultron. The teaser mostly recalled all of Vision's appearances from Age of Ultron to WandaVision and the Infinity War arc.

However, the trailer also shocked fans with a new version of Vision - a completely white or ghost-like appearance with blue eyes. While this is a teaser, the trailer will be dropped shortly after filming commences sometime in 2025.

Vision is one of many Marvel projects announced and already has the fandom eagerly waiting for its release.
