The Challenge 40 star Cara Maria Sorbello recently appeared for an interview with Entertainment Weekly on December 18, 2024. During her recent interview, the female participant recalled The Final Elimination task from the show's 17th episode against Tori Deal.
Fans witnessed Cara Maria Sorbellow competing against Tori Deal during the water-based task, which she lost. As a result, Cara was eliminated from the show while Tori advanced for the show's upcoming January 1, 2025 finale.
Referring to the fierce competition against Tori, Cara Maria opened up and shared:
"She (Tori Deal) was a rock. She had just won the swimming challenge. She's very comfortable in the water. So I was just like, "This is me against me at this point." I was nervous. I've never treaded water that long. I was trying to pretend I was on a beach waiting for my margarita. I was doing everything I could, but it was definitely the craziest elimination that I never expected in my life."
She added:
"Me and Tori finally go head-to-head in elimination, this is everything that it's come down to. And they throw us in the middle of the ocean and say swim. And I'm like, "Wait, what? Don't die." So in a way, I'm happy really with how it all ended."
The Challenge 40: Cara Maria chimes in on her opponent Tori Deal's performance during The Final Elimination task
During her recent interview, The Challenge 40 star Cara Maria Sorbello shared how she gave her "best effort" but still lost against Tori Deal. She said that because of the "time disadvantage", she came second, and as a result, she was eliminated.
The female participant mentioned it was her "fault," but added that she "did well." Further in her interview, Cara shared about how she had made a "lot of friends." She said she had an "incredible" season, referring to The Challenge 40.
"That elimination, I did very well until the very end. I did everything I could do. And I think at the end of the day I won in so many ways, especially not having to do that final because I feel like it's going to be a lot of swimming. With that plus a popularity vote, maybe it's good that I ended where I ended. Honestly, I had an incredible season."
Fans are well aware of Cara's rivalry with former The Challenge 40 star Laurel Stucky. Referring to her, Cara mentioned that after Laurel's elimination, she was able to let her "guard down."
She said that "usually", she is "always" on "hard defense", and that was one of the reasons why "people" root for her, as she is always looking for a way to "survive."
MTV will stream The Challenge 40 Finale on January 1, 2025.
