Critically acclaimed director Zack Snyder is set to return with a new Norse mythology animated series called Twilight of The Gods. Furthermore, the streaming platform also dropped a hype-worthy trailer while announcing the release date of the anticipated show.
Snyder is primarily known for his work in the DC universe with blockbuster movies such as Justice League, Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Man of Steel. However, it appears that Snyder is dipping his toes in the Marvel Universe with the new series.
Twilight of The Gods appears to promise darker versions of the Asgardian Gods - Loki and Thor. From the looks of it, the show won’t follow an ordinary animated storyline. Twilight of The Gods will have war, blood, sensual moments, revenge, and dragons, and dollops of dark humor.
When will Zack Snyder's Twilight of The Gods release?
According to Netflix, Twilight of The Gods will release on September 19, 2024. The show can be streamed on the aforementioned platform and will have a total of 8 episodes. Each episode dives into a compelling and dextrous storyline with unique plot twists.
What is the plot for Zack Snyder's Twilight of The Gods?
Snyder stuck to his guns with Twilight of The Gods, which is a very raw depiction of a war between Viking clans and their gods - Loki and Thor. Per Netflix’s Tudum, the plot is primarily centered around a fierce soldier named ‘Sigrid’ and her betrothed, King Leif.
On the eve of their wedding night, the couple and their kingdom were in the wake of Thor’s rage. Unable to digest the magnitude of destruction, the newly married couple and their crew set out on a bloodthirsty hunt for revenge.
Per the publication, the series will feature epic battles filled with gore (as the teaser unveiled), unchartered lands on their journey, romance, heartbreak, betrayal, and death. With dragons, demons, and the vindictive Loki as an antagonist, much is anticipated in Twilight of The Gods
Speaking to the publication about the series, Snyder shared a snippet about his alleged obsession with Norse mythology in Twilight of The Gods. Disclosing a few fragments about the show, Snyder said:
"My imagination was always really sparked by the Norse Gods...Thor, Odin, an adventure story about love and redemption and revenge set in this amazing landscape."
Furthermore, Snyder claimed that his fascination for the aforementioned mythology is what inspired him to create Twilight of The Gods.
