Actress Rhea Seehorn has teamed up with Vince Gilligan for an Apple TV+ sci-fi series, marking their second collaboration after AMC’s hit legal crime drama Better Call Saul. Seehorn plays the lead role in the yet-untitled show, while Gilligan serves as its creator and showrunner.

While plot details about the series are awaited, the actress has teased what to expect from the highly-anticipated project. She said Gilligan is known for blending various genres and tones and switching between them constantly. In the new series, the creator has taken this approach to a whole new level. Rhea Seehorn told Deadline:

“In this new show, he pushes that to a limit that was both very thought-provoking and upsetting sometimes, and other times, so, so funny. It really swings for the fences. I had so much fun.”

Vince Gilligan, known for his work on acclaimed shows like Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, was honored with the WGA West’s Paddy Chayefsky Laurel Award for Television Writing Achievement on February 15, 2025.

During the event, Rhea Seehorn had an interview with Deadline, where she talked about collaborating with Gilligan on their upcoming Apple TV+ series:

“Doing this new show with him, it’s so much fun the more he and I develop a shorthand of that collaboration and understanding.”

The actress said she could not reveal details about the project, and all she could say was the show would have a psychological theme along with science fiction. Further expressing her excitement about the series, she said:

“I can’t wait for it to come out though. Some of the stuff that audiences have loved about his writing where it’s really rich characters but also him playing with the idea of tropes and genres and tone, and switching, like injected humor in a very dark moment.”

The show was announced in 2022 and was filmed from February to September 2024. Interestingly, it is set in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the same city where Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul also take place.

However, Gilligan earlier teased that the new show will be nothing like his earlier AMC shows as it does not involve crime or drugs. He also revealed Rhea Seehorn will be playing a pretty different character from Kim Wexler, the role she played in Better Call Saul.

Apart from Seehorn, Karolina Wydra has also been confirmed to be a part of the upcoming series. The rest of the cast remains to be announced. Produced by High Bridge Productions, Bristol Circle Entertainment, and Sony Pictures Television, the show is expected to premiere on Apple TV+ sometime in 2025.
