The popular Bravo show Below Deck Mediterranean Season 9's end is approaching. This season of the show premiered on June 3, 2024. In a recent interview with US Magazine, Captain Sandy shared her thoughts about various things.
The exclusive interview with US Weekly, published on September 20, 2024, featured Captain Sandy Yawn opening up about Mustique crew members and sharing her views on many significant Below Deck Mediterranean Season 9 incidents.
Referring to many dramas on deck, the Captain knows when to step up, let things flow, and take a step back.
"I leave it with them. I have more (than enough) things on my plate. They're all adults. They can figure it out. Obviously, it does make its way to the bridge (sometimes). I have a conversation. It seems to turn things around a little bit," shared Captain Sandy Yawn.
Below Deck Mediterranean: Captain Sandy Yawn opens up about "significant" events from the current season
Fans must remember how many issues have arisen in Below Deck Mediterranean season 9. These include continuous laundry issues between stews Ellie Dubaich and Bri Muller, Chef Jonathan Shillingford, aka Jono's "fatal" fish dish, an unexpected "dessert" issue, and more.
Regarding one of the stews, Ellie, Captain Sandy said she knows her "behavior." She also talked about how Ellie opened up and apologized while she went on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen. Captain Sandy respected Ellie for that, as she "admitted" to being wrong.
"She got to watch herself. And I think it's more important what she thinks about herself and not me. Because when you think about your own actions, that’s when you change."
The Below Deck Med Captain added that she would respect the crew members if they were "accountable" for their behavior.
Coming to Chef Jono, fans must remember how he prepared a dish on one of their charters that was mentioned in the client guidelines. But, it didn’t become more than a "mistake" since the guest with a certain "allergy" hadn't yet eaten the dish.
However, Captain Sandy was unhappy about her on-deck Chef making such a "fatal mistake."
"Every time I would think about (firing him), he would pull himself out of the weeds. When you see someone doing that, you go, 'Wow, they have it in them. I know they can do this,' 'Why would I give up on Jonathan? And he tried.'"
She also mentioned that Chef Jono continued with the Mustique crew because no other Chef was available. If, by any chance, there would have been a Chef available, when Captain Sandy tried to find one, she "would've let him (Jono) go."
During her interview, Captain Sandy also shared her thoughts on additional crew members, including Chief Stew Aesha Scott, Bosun Iain, and more.
