“There’s no thread”: Titus Welliver reveals fans would not get any closure in Bosch: Legacy series finale

Bosch: Legacy is coming to an end soon, with the release of its final two episodes. This will mark the conclusion of a decade-long journey for Titus Welliver as the titular detective, which began with the television series Bosch in 2014.

However, if you think the show will tie all the plot points in the ending, Titus Welliver has bad news for you. The actor has revealed there is no sense of closure in the series finale, but the episodes will introduce the character of Renee Ballard, played by Maggie Q, which will lead to the spin-off series, Ballard. Titus said in an interview with The Direct:

“If people are anticipating some kind of closure… that doesn’t happen. There’s no thread, necessarily… a distinct thread that says to the audience, okay, and that’s Maggie Q, and get ready for Ballard.”

Titus Welliver says there is no closure in Bosch: Legacy Season 3 finale

Bosch: Legacy Season 3 was confirmed to be the final installment of the police procedural drama by Prime Video back in September 2024. Ever since, fans, as well as the cast members, have expressed their disappointment over the show coming to an end.

In his interview, Titus Welliver stated that in the final episodes, Hieronymus "Harry" Bosch will be seen working with Detective Renee Ballard on a case, which would establish the latter’s character:

“You meet Ballard. You see she and Bosch work together. You see their certain similarities. And so it sets up her character very well, but it does not have any closure or any sense of goodbye to it.”

“They both have the same intent, which is to solve a case. And so they sort of are forced to work together. But we don’t really have the time to establish that [fully]… It’s more of a point of impact.”

Bosch: Legacy continues the journey of Harry from the series Bosch as he starts working as a freelance private investigator after retiring from the LAPD office. In the third season, he is under investigation for murder. Meanwhile, he has to solve the case of the disappearance of an entire family.

The show premiered on Amazon Freevee in 2022 and was moved to Prime Video in 2024 when Freevee shut down operations. Based on Michael Connelly’s novels, the series was developed by Michael Connelly, Tom Bernardo, and Eric Overmyer.
