The White Lotus season 2 star Aubrey Plaza, who played Harper Spiller, has dropped a surprising truth. The actress says she hasn't watched any of her episodes of the celebrated show.
Plaza has previously been part of projects like Parks and Recreation and Ingrid Goes West. She has now shared that she's had some technical issues. These have, in turn, kept her out of the loop on the very show that put her in the spotlight.
Regarding watching the show, Plaza told The Wall Street Journal on August 27, 2024:
"I still haven’t, but I’m going to."
She went on to explain,
“I had trouble opening my HBO Max account when I was trying to watch it originally. I couldn’t figure out the password, and I usually just give up when I can’t figure out the passwords. I just can’t handle things like that.”
Even though the show has received awards including Golden Globes and SAG Awards, Plaza can’t seem to get into her account.

Plaza's issues with HBO Max aren't just a one-off thing. She's shared her frustrations with streaming services more than once. In a 2023 interview with Vanity Fair, she said she gets "really angry" when she has to use one.
She had said:
"I was trying to watch Top Chef Season 20. Couldn’t figure out how to f***ing get Hulu+ Live. I give up! I can’t. I just can’t."
She’s not into streaming services and prefers good old-fashioned media. Plaza even said she’s asked for DVDs of The White Lotus but hasn’t been given any.
She shared her feelings with The Wall Street Journal:
"I’d love a DVD, but they don’t send DVD sets anymore. I ask them every time."
Plaza seems to keep running into issues with streaming tech—so much so that she’s said she often buys series on iTunes to avoid the hassle of streaming services.
The White Lotus is a critical and commercial success
Despite Plaza’s personal hurdles in watching the show, The White Lotus Season 2 has been a hit. Created by Mike White, the series has received tons of praise for its clever satire and take on the not-so-great side of luxury resorts and struck a chord with fans and critics.
Season 2 takes place in Sicily. It keeps up the show's trend of mixing sharp social commentary with a murder mystery and works well. Plaza's role as Harper Spiller, a frustrated wife trying to deal with a stressful vacation, got her a lot of love. It even earned her an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.
The praised cast of the show includes F. Murray Abraham, Jennifer Coolidge, and Michael Imperioli. The cast has been instrumental in helping the series rack up many awards and nominations.
The White Lotus season 3 is confirmed to be set in Thailand. Filming has already started and it is expected to premiere in 2025. Additionally, new cast members like Carrie Coon, Parker Posey, and Jason Isaacs are joining.
