Meanwhile, fans eagerly await the upcoming finale's second part of The Challenge 40, which is set to air on January 8, 2025. In the meantime, two of the competition's finalists discussed how the game had been and what Kyland had learned from the competition.
Sharing about his learnings and understanding of "the social game element," Kyland Young shared:
"I'd say...I mean a lot of things...I will say the social game element was something where I realized in (Season) 39 how much the relationships matter because I was like, "Oh, I had met some of the people before I went in, but I didn't...I never played with anybody else in that house in 39," and the people who did play with each other, all you know, 18 of them or whatever it was, just decided to stick together."
He added:
"I was like, "Okay this bond of having played a game together can really lock in people." So let me pay attention to the social dynamic of whatever season I go to next, not realizing that the next season I do, everyone you know, relationship ranges from one to twenty years long, and I was like, well, all right....."
The Challenge 40 star Kyland Young shares his relationships, bonds, and more with Johnny Bananas
On The Challenge 40: Battle of the Eras Final Part 1 With Kyland episode of Death, Taxes, and Bananas, Kyland Young chimed in on dynamics between the cast members on the show. The podcast host, Johnny Bananas, also shared how "people" perceive the game and tasks in The Challenge 40.
"Simple Math equations become quantum physics when you're going to fall or when you're dangling or when you're the game's on the line, where you're gonna, you know, be back flipped in the water from 30 feet," shared Johnny.
Agreeing with that, The Challenge 40 star Kyland shared that the "reality of it" was something the people "hadn't done" in regular life.
Further in the podcast, Johnny asked Kyland how his game "evolved" from the previous season and what he would be taking with him to the "41 or next season" he would do.
The Challenge 40 star Kyland said he would work on the "social game element." Sharing more about that, he mentioned how he had seen participants who had known each other for quite a long time.
Chiming in on what Kyland said, Johnny replied that "having large numbers' offers "safety," but at the same time, it makes the game "incredibly difficult."
"Because now..this is the first season in a long time coming in between Era 1, Era 2, Era 3, Era 4, I had friends and some really long-term friends on every single Era. And it's the first time that I came in being like, "Damn dude, I'm going to have to slit some throats here."
However, he added that it wasn't "as bad as he thought" and that he would prefer to "go in" and perform tasks by himself most of the time. Kyland also shared how he sometimes had the power to choose who would perform next and who would compete against whom in some tasks.
MTV will air The Challenge 40 Finale Part Two on January 8, 2025, on the channel.
