Netflix is set to release the season 2 of The Night Agent, bringing back Gabriel Basso in the leading role of Peter Sutherland. The story started with Peter receiving an unusual but low-profile position in the White House which ultimately exposed him to a conspiracy.

As seen in The Night Agent Season 1, Peter must closely monitor a special emergency phone line that hardly rings. However, everything changes when it rings. When Peter answers a call, he ends up in a dangerous and complex web of secrets.

The series is packed with action, suspense, and political drama, which has earned him the seventh spot among the most-watched English TV shows on Netflix. Season 1 concluded with Peter officially stepping into the role of a night agent, and now fans are awaiting the second chapter to arrive on January 23, 2025.

As season 2 is fast approaching, Gabriel Basso sat in an interview with GamesRadar+ and shared his thoughts on the immense popularity of the Netflix series. The actor said:

"There is an awareness of how big the show is but I wouldn't say it's a pressure that makes you nervous. At least not for me."

He continued:

"I’m not saying that I'm relaxed all the time, it’s more that it’s so many people you can’t even wrap your head around it, holding yourself accountable to hundreds of thousands of people, it's just kind of ridiculous."

While Basso is aware of the popularity The Night Agent Season 1 has gained, this achievement doesn't make him nervous. Now that Peter and Rose (Luciane Buchanan) will take center stage for a new conspiracy, it would be intriguing to watch the two join forces.

The Night Agent on Netflix follows the story penned down by Matthew Quirk in his book and season 1 ended by adapting the final moments of the novel. As mentioned above, Gabriel Basso shed light on his show's success, as it currently remains in the 7th position on the top 10 shows on Netflix. The actor explained having no pressure about pleasing a massive audience but ensuring that everyone involved in the project feels they've given their best.

The actor mentioned:

"The people that I'm accountable to are the crew, knowing that the crew are there every day to work and that I have a job to make the show good, and that the writers put time in to make it good, and that Shawn [Ryan, creator] is overseeing it... If the whole world hated it but all the crew was proud of it, I'd be fine."

This way, Basso highlighted a grounded approach to his work, and the sense of responsibility as the main cast member. Additionally, The Night Agent will also introduce fans to new faces, especially Peter's superior Catherine, played by Amanda Warren.
