The Night Agent Season 3: Next chapter of the hit Netflix series begins filming

Netflix's action thriller The Night Agent was renewed for a third season even before the second season premiered- thanks to the show's immense popularity and acclaim. As fans continue to stream the show's second season on the streaming site, the third season of The Night Agent has already started filming.

According to reports, season 3 of the show has already started production, with filming taking place in Istanbul and New York. The latter will be the backdrop for most of the series, while the former seems to be one of the significant locations the series will explore in its newest venture.

Talking about the filming process, showrunner Shawn Ryan told Tudum,

“We’re so excited to bring new thrills, new worlds, new stunts, new characters, and new adventures to our fans in Season 3. We’ll be spanning the globe from Istanbul to New York to Washington, DC to Mexico City and even though we just started filming, we’ve already captured some of our biggest, most spectacular stuff yet. Thanks so much for devouring Season 2 and we look forward to bringing you a bigger and even better Season 3.”

In a video shared by Tudum, lead actor Gabriel Basso, who plays Peter Sutherland in the series, is seen giving fans an update as they film in Istanbul. Behind-the-scenes shots show plenty of action sequences, making the new season all the more exciting. Basso says in the video,

“The energy’s good. Everybody’s really excited so it feels great.”

The third season will follow Sutherland after the events of the second season, which premiered in January 2025 and is currently streaming. Based on Matthew Quirk's novel, the first season revolved around Sutherland as he saved the President and became a night agent. The second season of The Night Agent showed him taking on the duties of a night agent while an important mission was assigned to him at the end of the season. Naturally, the plot of the third season will probably revolve around said mission as he tackles more adversities in the world of Night Action.

One thing's for sure. The third season of The Night Agent will be even more action-packed, as Basso himself confirmed this in an interview with TV Insider. The actor said,

“They let me do something that I can’t believe they let me do, and I only did it once because I think when they realized what I was doing, they shot it down immediately. But they got it on camera, and then they all ran in and were like, stop this now. I’m psyched we got away with it. I can’t tell you what it is, but it’s pretty awesome.”

The first two seasons of The Night Agent are now available to stream on Netflix.
