Goats have become a major highlight of Severance Season 2. In the first season of the Apple TV+ series, it was teased that Lumon Industries was doing something with the animals while hiding a dark secret.
The goats became even more important in the second season as the show delved more into their purpose. Gwendoline Christie, who stars as Lorne in the dystopian thriller had to shoot several scenes with the animals.
In an interview with People Magazine on March 21, she talked about the challenges of filming those sequences. The actress revealed how the goats wreaked havoc on the sets of Severance Season 2:
“I was receiving a makeup touch-up. They were eating the brush. I was there for it. The goat was in my face. The goat was climbing off someone's desk.”
“The goat was butting its head against my knees. The goat is pooping. The goat's doing whatever the goat wants to do. And I aspire to that level of personal freedom,” Christie added.
Gwendoline Christie talks about how goats caused disruption on Severance Season 2 set
Gwendoline Christie also highlighted how it was difficult to manage the animals as they went about causing disruption and eating clothes on the sets:
“Some were disruptive, actually. They were divas. They were really difficult. As Adam Scott brilliantly said, 'Goats don't care about being on television.' Goats also have an incredible self-confidence. They feel comfortable to eat clothes whilst you're wearing them.”
Christie added that the goats followed her around as she carried treats in her pocket. At the same time, there were professionals on the sets who handled the animals and their movements:
“The goats were delighted. There were roaming free, there were lots of handlers around giving out treats. I had treats in my pocket, so they were following me around.”
While the goats seemed to have had a great time on the sets of Severance Season 2, they are part of a disturbing storyline in the show. Severance tells the story of Lumon Industries’ employees, whose office and personal memories have been separated as a part of an experiment.
As the employees dig deeper into the organization’s secrets, some dark details start coming out. The series is one of the most popular shows on Apple TV+ and has been renewed for a third season.
Apart from Gwendoline Christie, the series stars Adam Scott, Britt Lower, Zach Cherry, John Turturro, Michael Chernus, Tramell Tillman, Dichen Lachman, Christopher Walken, Patricia Arquette, and Sarah Bock in pivotal roles.
