Great news for fans of Dungeons & Dragons. As per a Deadline report, a new-live action show based on D&D is in the making. The show is set to be based on The Forgotten Realms, one of the most popular settings of Dungeons & Dragons.
After a failed attempt to get the project up and running with Paramount+ in the past, things have finally started to look promising with Netflix. Let us take a closer look at all the available details of the new project.
Shawn Levy and Drew Crevello are on board for the new live-action The Forgotten Realms: Dungeons & Dragons show on Netflix
While a previous attempt at making a Dungeons & Dragons live-action show on Paramount+ with Drew Crevello failed, he returns as the executive producer, writer, and showrunner of a new Netflix project based on the subject. However, Netflix is yet to officially comment on the development.
Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy is also on board as an executive producer and will be working along with Dan Levine and Crevello via 21 Laps, as the company has a TV deal with Netflix, Deadline added. Hasbro Entertainment will be producing the series as they were supposed to do if it worked out with Paramount+.
The main reason behind the Paramount+ project not working out was because of various strategic shifts, and also because of Lionsgate acquiring eOne. However, as of now, these things have been put in the past as the show has found its new potential home at Netflix.
Crevello had previously been associated with Apple TV+ as he was the executive producer of WeCrashed, a limited series on the streamer that starred Anne Hathaway and Jared Leto.
Besides directing, co-writing and producing the massive Marvel blockbuster Deadpool & Wolverine, Levy is associated with the final season of Stranger Things, scheduled for release this year.

The Forgotten Realms has previously been adapted to a great number of books, video games, and Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, a film that came out in 2023. The film is also serving as a base source for Crevello and his team of writers to gather more material for the project they are handling now.
