The Boys Season 5 has become a Supernatural reunion and it's not just Jared Padalecki joining the cast

The Boys season 5 has become even more exciting as Jared Padalecki has officially joined the cast, marking a reunion between him and his Supernatural brother Jensen Ackles, who plays Soldier Boy.

Eric Kripke, the creator of both The Boys and Supernatural, has been able to bring the two actors together for the final season of the superhero series. While Jared was speculated to be joining the show for a long time, the makers have made another surprise addition to the cast to ensure a much-awaited Supernatural reunion.

Misha Collins, who played the angel Castiel in The CW drama, has also been announced as a cast member for The Boys season 5. Fans are now excited to see the trio of Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, and Misha Collins back on the screen.

A Supernatural reunion in The Boys Season 5

Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins were announced to star in The Boys season 5 in an Instagram video on February 26, 2025. The official handle of the show shared a clip featuring Jensen, Jared, and Misha as the trio says they got ‘work to do, again.’

The characters to be played by Jared and Misha have not been revealed yet. Meanwhile, Jensen joined the series in season 3 as Soldier Boy, a formidable opponent to Homelander. As per a report by Polygon, the trio will share the screen in The Boys season 5 as they will have some scenes together.

Jensen and Jared starred as the brothers Dean Winchester and Sam Winchester, respectively, in all 15 seasons of Supernatural from 2005 to 2020. Meanwhile, Misha played Castiel and various other characters across 12 seasons of the show.

Interestingly, The Boys has featured some other Supernatural actors in the past. Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who played John Winchester in Supernatural, stars as Joe Kessler in The Boys.

Jim Beaver portrayed Bobby Singer in the former and Robert Singer in the latter. Similarly, Rob Benedict starred as Chuck Shurley in The CW series and as Splinter in the Prime Video series.

Eric Kripke previously expressed his wish to have a Supernatural reunion in The Boys season 5 in an interview with Variety. He told the media outlet in May 2024:

“I feel like I have to complete my game of ‘Supernatural’ Pokémon and I have my one big one — very big one [Jared Padalecki] — left to catch. I love him and you try to work with people that you love.”

The Boys season 5 marks the final installment of the hit Prime Video satirical superhero series. The show also stars Karl Urban, Antony Starr, Jack Quaid, Erin Moriarty, Laz Alonso, Karen Fukuhara, Tomer Capone, Chace Crawford, and Jessie T. Usher in pivotal roles.
