The Voice 26 aired its finale episode on December 10, 2024, on NBC. The finale revealed the winner, Sofronio Vasquez from Team Michael Bublé. Along with him was another writer from the same team, Shye. She came in second, while Sofronio became the first Filipino winner of the competition show.
During his December 13, 2024, interview with Today.com, Sofronio Vasquez revealed his journey on the show and how he has enjoyed his dentistry and singing career.
"Michael Bublé told me, 'Buddy, you just have to set that aside for now, because (you) have a lot of work to do.' But in my heart, I would never, ever forget, because I also love dentistry. So, I can also have the best of both worlds, singing while being a dentist."
The Voice 26 winner, Sofronio Vasquez, shares his thoughts on being a dentist and his singing career
The Voice 26 announced the show winner, Sofronio Vasquez, during the two-part finale, aired on December 10, 2024. In his recent interview with Today.com, Sofronio commented on various things, including his win and how he had been studying to become a dentist before joining the reality show.
After winning the show, the male participant mentioned how he was "still processing" his win.
32-year-old Sofronio mentioned that he was feeling grateful and happy.
"It's settling nicely right now, and I am close to the point that I believe that I'm a winner. I'm just grateful. I mean, it’s a blessing, and, yeah, I'm just so happy."
Until 2018, Sofronio has been studying to become a dentist. However, after his father's demise, he turned his focus to music and decided to make his career out of it. Having won such a renowned competition show, he mentioned how he wanted to tell his dad that they "made it."
Vasquez also mentioned how he and his family visited his father's grave after winning The Voice 26. He added that the Bible passage carved on his father's grave made him emotional.
Referring to the passage, Sofronio mentioned:
"It says Timothy 4:7, I have finished the race. I fought the fight, and I kept the faith. So I guess that’s his message (to) me, saying, 'Congratulations. I told you, you just have to keep the faith.'"
When asked what he would do next, Sofronio mentioned going to Utica, New York, where he used to live. He said he wanted to thank his community for being "such a big support" as they voted for him, and he won the competition.
Fans might not know that The Voice 26 winner Sofronio was also invited by the President of the Philippines, Ferdinand Marcos Jr., to visit the resident's official residence, Malacañang Palace.
"I believe I didn’t understand it yet, how big it is for Asians to be represented (The Voice), but they are so happy."
Later in his interview, Sofronio mentioned that he was open to returning to his dentistry career.
