Temptation Island 2025: Release date and more revealed

There’s a reason Temptation Island memes are all over your timeline. Netflix is presenting the reality show, which will land on the streamer on March 12. The show initially debuted in 2001 and ran for three seasons. It was filmed in multiple locations, including Belize, Hawaii, and Roatán.

In 2018, the show was revived on NBC Universal’s USA Network and ran for five seasons, ending in August 2023. Banijay Studios North America produced the show, which is executive-produced by David Goldberg and David Friedman. Mark L. Wahlberg of Antiques Roadshow fame will reportedly host the reality series on Netflix.

The Netflix logline stated:

Emotions run high when four couples, all at a crossroads in their relationship, head to Temptation Island to put their love to the ultimate test as they agree to live separately with a group of singles of the opposite sex

Will the choices they make push the couples closer together or farther apart into the arms of a new lover?

Temptation Island follows four unmarried couples who are willing to put their relationship to the test and agree to live separately. While the men will live in a villa with a group of single women, the women will live in a house with single men. Netflix has not released a trailer for the show as of this writing.

In the past seasons, couples were not allowed to communicate with each other during their time on the show and were shown some select footage of what their partner has been up to, which may also include their interactions with their roommates.

Banijay has distributed the reality show globally and adapted it in 26 countries, including Italy, Germany, and India. Recently, an episode from Temptation Island, Spain, went viral on social media. In it, a contestant named Juan Carlos Montoya is seen running across the beach on a rainy night to confront his girlfriend of ten months for getting intimate with another contestant.

The reality dating/romantic series formula has clearly worked for Netflix. Some other reality dating shows on the streamer include Love Is Blind, Too Hot to Handle, Perfect Match, and more. Chances are Temptation Island can offer a rating sweep to Netflix, considering the original show was so well-received. The New York Times reported in 2001 that the series premiere clocked in about 16 million viewers.
