Suits LA star Lex Scott Davis reveals if she watched Suits to prepare for her role as Erica Rollins

Suits LA has finally premiered on NBC after much anticipation. The Suits spin-off revolves around a law firm based in Los Angeles and introduces the audience to various new characters while keeping the essence of the original show.

One character who stands out in the show is Erica Rollins, played by Lex Scott Davis. Erica is an attorney at Ted Black’s firm and aspires to head the entertainment division of the company.

The actress has now talked about whether she took inspiration from Suits for the preparation of her role. Scott Davis said she had not watched the original show initially but binged it once she was called to audition for Suits LA.

Lex Scott Davis says she binge-watched Suits upon getting an audition for Suits LA

Lex Scott Davis had an interview with CBR, where she talked about whether she had checked out Suits before her casting in Suits LA. The actress said she had not watched the series when it was on the air.

However, when she got the audition for the spin-off, she watched the pilot episode to understand the show’s world. Scott Davis said the story was so incredible that she ended up binging the complete first season:

“I did not watch the original when it was on... so when I got the audition, I made sure I did my research. I went to Netflix, because it was available on Netflix, and I wanted to watch the first episode to understand the tone, understand the world, just so I knew what I was walking into.”

“And then I accidentally binged the entire first season, when I was supposed to be studying my lines for the audition. [Laughs.] So in that moment is when I realized wow, I understand the fan base. I get it. It's an incredible show.”

Scott Davis added that she got inspired by the strong female characters in Suits, like Jessica Pearson, played by Gina Torres. However, she also made sure that she brought her own experience and energy to the character of Erica Rollins in Suits LA.

Suits LA tells the story of Ted Black, a former federal prosecutor who runs a law firm in Los Angeles with Stuart Lane. Erica Rollins and Rick Dodsen are two prominent attorneys at the firm who are competing for the position of entertainment head.

However, the firm goes through an unexpected shake-up, which changes the course of the attorneys’ lives. Created by Aaron Korsh, the show stars Stephen Amell as Ted Black, Bryan Greenberg as Rick Dodsen, and Josh McDermitt as Stuart Lane, along with Lex Scott Davis as Erica Rollins.
