The Challenge 40 aired its recent episode on December 17, 2024, on MTV. It featured various tasks involving both remaining male and female participants. One of the tasks was between Cara Maria Sorbello and Tori.
After hours of struggle and competing against each other, Cara Maria lost the water task and was sent home. As a result, Tori Deal made it to The Challenge 40 Finale.
Referring to their task, Tori mentioned how she struggled and managed to stay in the game and ultimately won against one of the strongest players, Cara Maria.
"I made the final I thrilled I really am but I'm also like sad Cara just looks so defeated and it just sucks. Her and I have suffered through hours of this elimination together and have been bonded in a way that no other two people on the planet will ever be able to understand," shared Tori.
The Challenge 40: The Final Elimination task between Cara Maria and Tori Deal
During The Challenge 40 Episode 17, participants faced their first challenge, Fortress Bricks. They had to carry heavy bricks down the fort while taking planks upward and solving a puzzle. The planks were supposed to be organized so that they solved the puzzle.
For men, the task winner was Jordan, while for the women, Jenny won. Cara Maria came in second. However, with her prior three-minute penalty, she came in last and was sent to The Final Elimination Task.
Against Cara Maria was Tori Deal, whom Jordan chose to compete against. While fighting against Tori, Cara Maria competed fiercely. Despite her efforts, she lost the task. It happened after both competitors went on for hours in the ocean, where they were supposed to show their mental strain at night.
Various sea creatures were swimming around the contestants. Referring to that, Tori told the cameras:
"I am trying to keep my composure right now, but it's terrifying to be in here in the middle of the night... I literally feel like I am a meal inside here for these fish."
On the other hand, Cara Maria mentioned:
"The panic does start to set in. I'm going to do everything in my power to do this, but like, my hands were definitely helping me to feel comfortable, and now I'm not allowed to use them.."
The Challenge 40 episode featured Cara Maria losing the task after almost three hours as she was submerged in the water. After the task, the female cast member mentioned how Tori looked like a "statue" and how she seemed like she should do the task for "another two hours."
As for Cara, she shared that she felt "sinking," and going below the water. The Challenge 40 Episode 7 featured Cara Maria Sorbello's elimination while sending Tori Deal to the show's finale.
