Happy's Place has proved to be a major success for NBC, resulting in its quick renewal for a second season. Starring legendary country singer Reba McEntire in the lead, the sitcom tells the story of two half-sisters who meet after their father’s death and are forced to run his bar together.

The show recently finished airing its first season, and audiences are now awaiting details on the second chapter. Series co-creator Kevin Abbott has shared a positive update on the upcoming installment, revealing work on season 2 is going to begin sooner than expected.

In an interview with ScreenRant, Abbott revealed the pre-production on Happy’s Place season 2 will commence in mid-April, and the show will start filming in June:

“So season 2, we're actually starting up early. We'll probably start pre-production mid-April because of Reba's schedule on The Voice. We have to work around that. So we will start shooting again beginning of June.”

In his interview, Kevin Abbott cited Reba McEntire’s busy schedule and her duties on The Voice as the reasons behind Happy's Place season 2’s early production. Talking about how the writers plan to take the story forward, the co-creator said:

“We do have leftover ideas from what would've been season 1 that we didn't get to. So we definitely have those, and I'll start up with the writers next week.”

Abbott further revealed that several new writers are joining the show for the sophomore season, and he is excited to begin work:

“I have a lot more energy for season 2 already than I would normally have at the end of a season. And really, this cast has been marvelous. It's been a fun season doing this show with these guys.”

The release date of Happy's Place Season 2 remains to be announced. Created by the duo of Julie Abbott and Kevin Abbott, the show revolves around Bobbie McAllister, who takes charge of a bar in Knoxville, Tennessee, after his father’s death.

However, soon Isabella enters her life, revealing herself as Bobbie’s half-sister. The two women then begin to manage the bar together while getting to know each other, leading to some chaotic and humorous situations.

Reba McEntire stars in the role of Bobbie and is joined by Belissa Escobedo as Isabella. The rest of the cast includes Melissa Peterman as Gabby, Tokala Black Elk as Takoda, Pablo Castelblanco as Steve, Rex Linn as Emmett, Steve Howey as Danny, and Michael O'Neill as Jim Jackoway.

Happy's Place season 1 is available to stream on Peacock.
