Star City: Anna Maxwell Martin officially joins the cast of For All Mankind spin-off show

As reported by multiple sources, Anna Maxwell Martin, known for her work in shows like Motherland and Line Of Duty, has officially joined the cast of Star City, a spin-off to Apple TV's sci-fi drama For All Mankind. Star City will explore the story from a different angle of the space race with the Soviet Union being central to the plot.

Per Deadline, Martin will be cast as Lyudmilla, a Soviet woman recruited as the "head of the KGB surveillance department at Star City". She will play her part alongside co-star Rhys Ifans, whose role was confirmed earlier in 2024.

Ben Nedivi and Matt Wolpert are at the helm of the project as showrunners cum executive producers with Ronald D. Moore joining in - a trio behind the original sci-fi show For All Mankind.


Anna Maxwell Martin is now a part of Apple TV's Star City

Anna Maxwell Martin has recently joined the cast of Apple TV's spin-off show Star City where she will play one of the key roles going by the name Lyudmilla. Per Deadline, she has been joined by Rhys Ifans who will be portrayed as the Chief Designer. However, the name of Ifans' character is still being kept under wraps.

The latest development in the much-anticipated spin-off Star City has garnered quite some social media attention. Martin, who has gained quite some popularity owing to her BBC show Motherland, will now be a part of the For All Mankind franchise that has performed well over the years in terms of audience scores and response.

Moreover, the official confirmation of For All Mankind Season 5 leaves promising updates for sci-fi thriller fans. A show log line of Star City reads:

"A propulsive, paranoid thriller that takes us back to the key moment in the alt-history retelling of the space race – when the Soviet Union became the first nation to put a man on the moon."

Newly-joined Star City cast Anna Maxwell Martin has bagged two British Academy TV Awards for her outstanding performance in the 2005 BBC drama Bleak House. She also won a BAFTA TV Award for the same show in 2006 under the category of Best Actress.

Moreover, Martin has been involved in multiple projects throughout her acting career namely Poppy Shakespeare, South Riding, Ludwig, Becoming Jane, and White Girl. Now Apple TV is producing her highly-anticipated sci-fi spin-off Star City with Sony Pictures Television joining in as the studio partner.

Steve Oster will also work as executive producer alongside Andrew Chambliss and the original showrunners.
