Squid Game Season 3 will be the final season
According to reports, Squid Game Season 3 will premiere in 2025, though no dates have been confirmed yet. Show creator Hwang Dong-hyuk reportedly told Deadline that the second and third seasons were written together as one big story.
He further added that both the installments went into production simultaneously. Season 2 only has 7 episodes which caught the fans by surprise, especially after a long wait. As per Hwang, the story's turning point is set in the seventh episode.
So, it was important for the creator to draw a conclusion accordingly. Moreover, we still do not have any information on how many episodes Season 3 will have. But we will witness Seong Gi-hun's one last shot at trying to stop a dangerous organization manipulating financially desperate people into deadly games.
Hwang opens up about his most successful project with Netflix
Squid Game creator Hwang reportedly told Variety in a statement:
"I'm so sick of my life making something, promoting something. I'm just thinking about going to some remote island and having my own free time without any phone calls from Netflix."
He mentioned that Seong Gi-hun's story will end with one last adventure to the remote island where the games take place. However, Netflix, having owned rights to the show, has already worked on other projects from the franchise like the reality TV game show, Squid Game: The Challenge.
A video game, Squid Game: Unleashed, has been launched, too. However, these do not ,in anyway, involve show creator Hwang Dong-hyuk.
