Netflix has officially confirmed the release date of Squid Game season 3, its massively popular Korean survival thriller series. The season, which marks the show’s final installment, will debut on June 27, 2025.
The news comes just a month after the second season’s premiere, which is already shattering streaming records. The globally famous series follows a group of 456 players, each struggling with financial issues, who are allowed to win 45.6 billion if they participate in a series of deadly games.
In the second season, the protagonist Seong Gi-hun returns to the games and unsuccessfully tries to put an end to it. The season concludes on a cliffhanger with a failed rebellion against the game’s organizers.
Squid Game Season 3 to arrive on Netflix in June 2025
On January 30, 2025, Netflix officially announced the release date of Squid Game season 3 as June 27, 2025. This puts the gap between the second and third seasons at only six months, as the previous installment came out on December 26, 2024.
Both the seasons were shot back-to-back which explains the small release gap between the two. The third season is going to mark the final chapter of the show which will conclude the story of the deadly games. However, the number of episodes in the final season has not been announced yet.
Netflix also released five first-look images for the season, which tease some intense moments. In one of the pictures, Gi-hun is staring at someone with blood on his jacket. Another image depicts a casket in the dorm with Jang Geum-ja, Park Yong-sik, Cho Hyun-ju, and Kim Jun-hee watching it closely.
One picture also shows Guard 011, Kang No-eul, in an open space without her mask. The final two pictures are those of the Front Man. The season will follow up on the cliffhanger of the previous season’s finale and showcase what happens after the rebellion.
Meanwhile, it is also expected to tie all the loose ends and reveal if Gi-hun is able to end the games for good or if the VIPs continue to enjoy at poor contestants’ expense.
Squid Game Season 2 recorded the most-watched premiere on Netflix
