South Park fans might be disappointed as show creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker have confirmed that the next season of the show will not arrive until 2025.

This also means South Park will skip the 2024 presidential election event, not satirizing the race between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.

In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, South Park creators Parker and Stone revealed why they took this decision:

"We’ve tried to do South Park through four or five presidential elections, and it is such a hard thing to—it’s such a mind scramble, and it seems like it takes outsized importance,” Stone said. “Obviously, it’s f—king important, but it kind of takes over everything and we just have less fun."

Parker added:

"I don’t know what more we could possibly say about Trump."

Why will there be a delay in releasing the next season of South Park?

In the same interview, Stone and Parker revealed that Season 27 of South Park will not be out till 2025. They hinted that the delay could partially be the result of some corporate issues. To quote Parker, they are:

"[w]aiting for Paramount to figure all their s—t out."

There have been multiple instances of South Park weaving real-life elections into its storyline. For instance, the episode titled Oh Jeez was aired in 2016, the night after Hillary Clinton was defeated by Trump.

In 2008, the episode titled About Last Night showed their version of Obama’s victory and aired after the night Obama won against John McCain.

In the episode South ParQ Vaccination Special, Stone and Parker showed only the aftermath of the 2020 election when Mr. Garrison returned to teach, pretending that nothing has happened, inspite of receiving unwanted attention from the Whites and their QAnon conspiracy theories.

In the episode Douche and Turd, the makers of South Park focused on George Bush and John Kerry. This episode delivered its message rather heavily when Stan had to vote in favor of one between two equally unattractive options.
