“Somewhere in Europe”: HBO executive teases The White Lotus Season 4’s possible setting

HBO's Primetime Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning comedy The White Lotus will finally debut its Season 3 on Max on February 16, 2025.

Debuting in July 2021, the black comedy anthology series follows a group of white, ultra-rich, and unrelated guests who come for a one-week vacation in the show's titular luxury resort, where "each passing day, a darker complexity emerges in these picture-perfect travelers, the hotel's cheerful employees, and the idyllic locale itself".

Seasons 1 and 2 took the audiences to a maddening adventure in Hawaii and Italy, with the new season all set to take place in Thailand. In January 2025, the show was also renewed for Season 4, and an HBO executive might have teased the location for the upcoming season.

In a recent interview with Deadline, HBO’s Head of Drama, Francesca Orsi discussed the possible location for Season 4:

“We’re going on some locations scouting in the next couple of weeks, so we’ll know soon. I can’t really say where we’re going to land but chances are somewhere in Europe.”

Directed and written by Mike White, Season 3 includes an ensemble cast of Leslie Bibb, Carrie Coon, Aimee Lou Wood, Jason Isaacs, Lalisa Manobal and many more.

Is The White Lotus going back to Europe in Season 4?

After taking a detour to Thailand in the upcoming The White Lotus Season 3, it looks like the makers are going back to their roots in Europe for the next season.

During the interview with Deadline, Orsi added a 'likely' before saying:

“some countries on the map that we talked about, but nothing to report on until they actually go locations scouting.”

While the locations in Europe are also limitless, fans surely enjoyed the Italian escapade in The White Lotus Season 2. In addition, after the exotic Thailand, it would prove to be a streak contrast in the upcoming season for the audiences.

Talking about upcoming Season 3 and what the audiences should expect from it, Orsi added:

“I called Casey after the finale, and I said, I don’t know how Mike could ever top what he’s achieved here''

She added:

“It is an incredible season of television, a piece of cinema. He’s outdone himself exponentially, I’m really blown away by what he’s accomplished with this. Each season always has something to say but there’s a profound quality about this season that feels unlike anything else he’s explored. It’s a tall order for the future.”
