The Pitt has quickly turned out to be one of the most popular shows on Max. The Pitt combines the exigencies of a high-stakes medical drama with incisive character studies of the doctors and other medical personnel working inside the emergency room. It is perhaps for this reason that The Pitt has already been renewed for a second season by the streamer.
A recent Entertainment Tonight video saw Noah Wyle speaking about a potential ER reunion, which has the internet taking notice in alarm. It must be stated here for the uninitiated that Noah Wyle became a household name following his appearance on HBO's ER as young doctor John Carter.
Here's everything that we know.
The Pitt star Noah Wyle hints at a potential E.R. reunion
Ever since his first appearance on HBO's ER as Dr. John Carter, Noah Wyle's name has become synonymous with medical dramas on television. The veteran actor has recently been raking in praise as the venerable and efficient Dr. Robby on Max's The Pitt.
Wyle was recently asked in an interview with Entertainment Tonight whether he was in touch with his colleagues from the legacy medical drama, and he replied in the affirmative. He also revealed that he was in contact with all of his former colleagues from HBO and was due to be in New York in the near future to mark the occasion of fellow ER star George Clooney's Broadway debut. While stating this, Wyle tactfully left the possibility of a potential ER reunion open. He stated:
"Something we always look forward to."
While The Pitt has been regarded as a great show and possibly among the best of this year, there have been several allegations stating that the show is an unofficial continuation of ER itself. When asked about this, Wyle categorically stated that he hoped this dispute would work itself out.
Noah Wyle opens up about the new medical drama show
Speaking in an exclusive interview with AVClub, Wyle opened up about the Max medical drama. When asked if the show had any storyline that was particularly difficult for him, the former ER star answered:
"I found it all incredibly rewarding, but I’m not insensitive or unaware of the climate that we’ve been living in for the last several years. And when I write a female character or a character of color, it’s not lost on me that this is looked at with a different lens than it used to be. But I also didn’t let it inhibit me so much as I just sort of thought about what would be appropriate, what sounds right, and that everybody felt like it sounded authentic. I felt like I was writing, in some cases, a little bit of all the characters’ subtext."
The Pitt is exclusively available on Max.
