During the latest episode of The Challenge 40, which aired on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, long-standing competitors Cara Maria Sorbello and Laurel Stucky engaged in an intense argument.
The feud started on the fifth episode when Era 4 contestant Michele Fitzgerald approached Laurel Stucky. She wanted to ask Laurel why she didn't like her. However, Laurel didn't seem to entertain the conversation. Laurel told Michele that she should "stop" trying to be her friend, while Cara Maria witnessed things that were going on between Michele and Laurel.
When Cara tried to talk to Michele and get her away from there, Laurel didn't appreciate it. Then Cara Maria decided to confront Laurel about her "such" behavior.
"You are being an as**ole to everyone is this f***ing house...you are so manipulative."
Cara Maria and Laurel Stucky: Latest "conversation" on The Challenge 40 Episode 5
On The Challenge 40 Episode 5, fellow competitor Michele Fitzgerald from Era 4 tried conversing with Laurel Stucky (of Era 2). Michele wanted to ask why Laurel doesn't "like" her. In response, Laurel told her to "stop" being her friend and ended the conversation abruptly.
Seeing things intense, Cara Maria (Era 2) intervened and tried to console Michele.
"Michele, I can be your friend outside of this, come with me."
The situation was not in Laurel's favor, which she didn't like. Later in the episode, Cara Maria shared the incident with Emily Schromm.
The fifth episode of The Challenge 40 also featured Cara Maria approaching Laurel and asking why she was being "such an as*hole."
"Maybe the problem is you, Laurel," shared Cara Maria.
Cara Maria also referred to Laurel as "manipulative." Laurel would not sit quietly, especially against her long-standing rival, Cara Maria.
"You're the one that's manipulative…When you point a finger at someone, you point three back at yourself," replied Laurel.
The conversation got even more intense when Cara Maria told Laurel and accused her of being "disrespectful" and "hostile" to the other participants. Many of The Challenge 40 participants witnessed this and had their opinions on the situation between Cara Maria and Laurel.
"There was a chance in the beginning of this challenge... However, Laurel chose to throw Cara Maria the first chance she had... So Cara Maria's days of forgiving need to come to an end," shared Rachel Robinson (Era 1.)
Another fellow player, Johnny Bananas, shared his thoughts on the feud between Cara Maria and Laurel. He said that the duo's relationship was "beyond repair, " adding that it was "beyond dysfunctional." He referred to Cara Maria and Laurel as "oil and water."
