Bosch: Legacy has come to an end with the release of its third season’s finale. This has concluded the decade-long journey of Harry Bosch, the detective played by Titus Welliver.
However, the Bosch universe is going to continue with a spin-off, Ballard, with Maggie Q in the lead. The character was introduced in the final episodes of Bosch: Legacy, where Detective Renee Ballard teamed up with Harry to solve a cold case.
Titus Welliver has now talked about how Maggie Q will take his legacy forward with Ballard. Speaking highly of the actress, Welliver said in an interview with Parade:
“She’s fantastic as Ballard. I rang my bell when they were talking about her. I went, ‘Oh, if you can get her, that’s a home run.’”
Titus Welliver talks about Maggie Q's role as Ballard after Bosch: Legacy finale
In his interview, Titus Welliver said he and Maggie had never worked together previously, but they have several mutual friends. When they met on the sets of Bosch: Legacy, there was a natural chemistry between the two:
“What I will say is that Maggie and I have a million friends in common. But [we] have never met each other nor worked together. And I’m happy to report that when we met, the chemistry was there, it really worked. Every aspect of it worked.”
Further talking about how Maggie easily understood the essence of the Bosch franchise and got into her character effortlessly, Welliver revealed:
“Maggie’s exceptional in the role, and she really gets it. There’s a tone in the Bosch canon that needs to be adhered to to a certain degree, and she got Renée immediately. I think our experiences were not dissimilar. She read that character and went, 'I know who she is. I know how I want to play her.'”
Both Bosch: Legacy and Ballard are based on Michael Connelly’s detective novels. Fans have been awaiting the arrival of Renee on screen for a long time, and the wait is finally going to end this year as the spin-off is expected to premiere on Prime Video sometime in 2025.
Coming back to Bosch: Legacy, the show served as a sequel to Bosch and told the story of Harry Bosch, a former LAPD detective turned private investigator who solved some gripping cases every season. The series received critical acclaim and became quite popular among audiences, but Prime Video announced its cancellation in September 2024.
Along with Welliver, the series starred Mimi Rogers, Paul Calderón, Stephen Chang, Madison Lintz, and Denise G. On the other hand, Ballard features Maggie Q in the titular role along with Courtney Taylor, John Carroll Lynch, Victoria Moroles, Noah Bean, Rebecca Field, Michael Mosley, Hector Hugo, and Amy Hill.
All seasons of Bosch: Legacy are available to stream on Prime Video.
