The first two episodes of the newest Apple TV+ Comedy Drama, The Studio, are out. Directed by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, it stars Seth Rogen as the protagonist, Matt Remick, a cinephile who has been promoted to head the studio at Continental Studios. Rogen was understandably nervous to direct Martin Scorsese in the first episode and has shared his experience.
Seth Rogen told EW,
"I was so petrified he would show up and say, 'You're only shooting this with one camera? You're doing oners?' that I actually had a second camera crew sequestered away in another room... They were actually the camera crew from Killers of the Flower Moon, so if he got cagey with me, I knew I could just bring in these familiar faces."
Seth Rogen, as evident from his own words, had taken every step to ensure Martin Scorsese would have a good time on the set of The Studio and appreciate Rogen's techniques.
How did it go when Seth Rogen directed Martin Scorsese in The Studio?
Seth Rogen was worried how Martin Scorsese would react to him filming with only one camera and thought maybe if he had another set of camera crew from one of Martin's previous films, it'd go better. But as he told EW,
"It was purely based in my own fear that he would be critical of our directing choices, but he wasn't,"

Seth continues,
"I was like, 'We do everything in one shot.' As soon as he saw it, he's like, 'Great. It's like French New Wave. I love it. It's perfect.'"
Many filmmakers get a little worried when they have to direct highly accomplished actors. They worry if the actors would like their techniques and skills as they have worked on great projects before and might have specific expectations. Rogen felt the same when he was about to direct Martin Scorsese for The Studio, but Martin, like many actors, reduced his fears and was well on board.
As Seth says,
"He was so funny and great, and honestly, as soon as he came in the room, his energy was just so good that everyone just relaxed."
Seth Rogen was not the only one worried. His mother was equally nervous for him. Seth Rogen continued to speak on the topic,
''But my mom called me that morning and was like, 'You have to direct Martin Scorsese today. That must be terrifying. Oh my God, how nervous are you?' I was like, 'Very! None of this is helping!'"
Despite all the fears, the first two episodes of The Studio have received quite the love and appreciation. Rogen, known for comedy, has proven his art once again, and fans are just eager to watch the rest of the episodes.
The Studio comes out on Apple TV+ each Wednesday.
