Elizabeth Olsen's character, Scarlet Witch, is reportedly set to reprise her role in Marvel's upcoming Vision series. News about the series was recently unveiled at this year's Comic-Con, which featured a show teaser. While the show centrally focuses on the new 'ghost-like' Vision, it might feature the Scarlet Witch.
Per Deadline, the series brings back the iconic villain Ultron—James Spader and Paul Bettany. The MCU series is set to release in 2026, nearly two years after Agatha All Along's release. The publication alleged Scarlet Witch's return would "make sense" since she strongly connected to Vision and Ultron.
Olsen's character, Wanda, bonded with Ultron through their mutual hatred towards Tony Stark. After learning about Ultron's ulterior motives and his hand in killing her brother, she ended his life.
But, it was through Ultron that she also met Vision - the love of her life. Although their relationship wasn't explored much in the movies, the show WandaVision emphasized their passion. Presently, neither Olsen nor representatives of Marvel have issued an official comment about Scarlet Witch returning to the big screen for the Vision series.
What happened between Scarlet Witch and Vision in WandaVision?
The Scarlet Witch or Wanda and Vision were romantic interests in the MCU. As mentioned, the on-screen couple met during the second installment of The Avengers franchise. They made their last appearance together in the WandaVision series as proud parents.
The two appeared to share many happy moments and even build a life as a family. Sadly, after the Scarlet Witch and Vision uncover the truth, their lives crumble before them - an unhappy ending. Should Olsen reprise her role in the upcoming 2026 series, there's a high possibility for them to rekindle their romance.
When did Scarlett Witch last appear in the MCU?
Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlett Witch was last seen in 2022 in both the series WandaVision and the movie Doctor Strange: The Multiverse of Madness. In the series, Wanda and Vision appear to have built a cozy life with two children—her dream life. It is only later that she realizes how disillusioned she's been.
The ending sees the Scarlet Witch conquering Agatha and regaining her lost powers. Despite the void in her heart from the loss of Vision and her children, she chooses to move forward in her life, fondly remembering them.
This connected well with her final appearance in the MCU movies(yet)—the post-credits scene of the WandaVision finale saw Scarlet Witch in Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness. In the movie, Olsen's character appears to have gone full villain as she gives in to the dark side.
Despite the chaos she caused, the Scarlet Witch is still a hero and attempts to undo the mess she's created. The anti-hero sacrifices her life for the greater good in the movie - presumably her last appearance in the MCU.
