Sarah Michelle Gellar's late '90s series Buffy the Vampire Slayer has been in talks for a reboot, and the actress has given an extremely hopeful update on the show and what its future could look like.
Released in 1997, Buffy the Vampire Slayer centered around Sarah’s character, Buffy, who is chosen against her will to face off against vampires—a life she initially resists but later grows into as the show progresses. The show was immensely successful and a cultural phenomenon, with Gellar emerging as a star and the heart of it.
As of now, talks of a possible reboot have been floating around for a while, and the actress has shared a new update. Speaking to PEOPLE magazine, Sarah said:
"We've set up our offices, which means things are progressing probably faster than I'd anticipated. But it's going to be a process, I think. To do it the way it needs to be done, everyone has to be patient with all of us, because this isn't something that [will just happen]."
She added more comments about how the show's legacy still stands decades after its release, saying:
"As an actor, you just want to do work that stands the test of time, that people still enjoy, not just when it comes out, but years later, and it still is impactful for them. So the fact that this show is still so impactful to the people that watched it the first time along with me, to young kids today that are just discovering it and feel like it still speaks to them, being able to bring more people to her, it's the greatest gift an actor could ever ask for. Truly."
