Robert De Niro reflects upon finishing over six decades of his acting career with Netflix's Zero Day.

The Goodfellas actor is all set to star in Zero Day, a political conspiracy thriller miniseries that revolves around a global cyberattack. DeNiro plays George Mullen, a former president who tries to solve the mystery behind a devastating attack on zero-day. So, ahead of the show's release, the actor joined his co-star, Lizzy Caplan, for an interview with ET Now.

During the interview, the ET journalist asked Robert De Niro about his first acting role in Three Rooms in Manhattan in 1965. De Niro, now in his early eighties, corrects her by mentioning his technically first acting job in The Wedding Party when he was just entering adulthood. He says,

"I was 19 when I did that. My mother had to sign that contract for $50...and I thought I was getting $50 a week, but she said it's $50 [for his entire gig]."

He further adds,

"It was about eight weeks [of process]."

The interviewer asked what De Niro felt when he looked back at that role and whether he thought he would keep acting for over sixty years. He says,

"I don't know...I was always optimistic about things."

Robert De Niro has been in the film industry for around sixty years. Now, he stars in Zero Day, a cybersecurity thriller that marks his Netflix debut. It shows him flexing his acting muscles even in his early eighties.

De Niro happily reflects upon his first role in the interview when he was barely at the end of his teen years. He remembers his first acting role in 1969's The Wedding Party, which debuted nearly four years after his work as an extra in Three Rooms in Manhattan. He has now become a star who needs no introduction.

De Niro has proven his acting chops throughout his career. He has also received two Oscars out of the eight times he has been nominated for this honor. The first was for his supporting performance in Francis Ford Coppola's The Godfather Part II, while the latter was for his lead role in Martin Scorsese's classic sports biopic, Raging Bull. His latest project, Zero Day, is now streaming on Netflix.
