Reacher season 3 has added another feather to its cap. The globally popular action crime drama has broken a major streaming record by becoming the most-watched returning season on Prime Video.
The new installment, which premiered on February 20, 2025, garnered over 54 million viewers within 19 days of its release, which led to the unprecedented record. However, the show still missed out on becoming the most-watched show on the platform.
That record is held by Fallout and The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 1. However, Reacher remains one of the most popular shows on Prime Video. Since its premiere in 2022, the Alan Ritchson starrer has continuously garnered critical acclaim and audience appreciation.
Reacher season 3 has so far kept fans hooked with its action-packed narrative. Based on Lee Child’s Jack Reacher novel series, the show follows the titular character, who uses his strength and skills to take down dangerous criminals.
Reacher Season 3 becomes the most-watched returning show on Prime Video
Season 3 has garnered 54.6 million views worldwide in just 19 days. This makes it the most-watched returning show and the third most-watched series overall on Prime Video, following Fallout and The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, each with around 65 million views in their respective first seasons.
The third season saw a 0.5% increase in viewership compared to Season 2. Amazon has revealed that over 50% of the viewership in Season 3 comes from international markets like Germany, the UK, and Brazil.
Reacher’s popularity can be attributed to its captivating storyline, stellar performances, and faithfulness to Lee Child’s novels. Developed by Nick Santora, the show centers on Jack Reacher, a former military policeman with impressive skills that enable him to take on criminal organizations.
Every season, Jack has a new threat to face. In the third season, he has teamed up with the DEA to hunt down a former military intelligence officer turned arms dealer. Meanwhile, he has to pretend to be friends with a deadly businessman and locate a missing DEA agent before time runs out.
Since its premiere in 2022, Prime Video renewed Reacher's subsequent seasons promptly due to its global success. A fourth season has already been confirmed, with the announcement in October 2024.
