Prime Video has finally released Reacher Season 3 and ahead of the release, Alan Ritchson, who brought Jack to life talks about his character. The actor is widely praised for his impressive physical presence as it perfectly matches Lee Child's novels.
In his interview with GamesRadar+, Alan Ritcshon confirmed that Jack's seemingly effortless physique comes directly from Child’s books but the character barely does any exercises. The actor found this funny and said:
"It’s a little ridiculous with Reacher, I mean, but it's funny. You got like this, like, you know, chiseled six-pack abs kind of physique in the books."
He continued:
"And it's like, of course, he's a unicorn, you know. No, you would never look like Reacher without hours of training."
However, Ritchson isn't the only giant in Season 3 as Olivier Richters aka The Dutch Giant has also joined the cast. The actor is 7'2" and is considered one of the tallest active actors in the industry.
Interstingly, Jack accuses Paulie of using Human Growth Hormone (HGH) in Season 3 Episode 1 when he sees him for the first time. Unlike bodybuilders, Alan Rtchson's character is naturally giant and does minimal exercises.

Reacher star Alan Richson talks about his character's physique
One of the reasons why the Prime Video series is lauded by fans is its alignment with Lee Child's books. Reacher has often been praised as a faithful adaptation as it not only focuses on the action-packed and thrilling narrative but also on how the characters look.
Being the titular character, Lee Child has been specific about Jack's appearance in his books. So, Amazon MGM Studios ensured to cast an actor who matched the description and Alan Ritcshon emerged as a perfect choice.
However, the character is never seen exercising or taking steroids to enhance his appearance. In the same interview, Ritchson said:
"Lee Child, like has a real sense of humor about it. There's a book where he goes, he gets out of bed and he stretches, and he goes, 'That's the workout for the day."
Jack doing almost nothing to maintain his physique is the author's playful approach to his protagonist. Ritchson's imposing presence in the TV series adds authenticity to action sequences, whether he's taking down multiple enemies or kicking a car hard enough to deploy its airbags.
