Rachel Weisz is all set to lead a limited series on Netflix. It will be an adaptation of Julia May Jonas’ debut novel, Vladimir, which released in 2022. The novel follows a female English professor who becomes infatuated with her young novelist colleague - in the wake of accusations of inappropriate behavior against her husband by his former students.
The series logline reads:
“As a woman’s life unravels, she becomes obsessed with her captivating new colleague. Full of sexy secrets, dark humor, and complex characters, Vladimir is about what happens when a woman goes hell-bent to turn her fantasies into reality.”
Weisz will also executive produce this project along with Jonas, who will serve as the creator, and Kate Robin (The Affair, One Mississippi, and Six Feet Under), who will be the showrunner.
They will be joined by Sharon Horgan, Stacy Greenberg, and Kira Carstensen from Horgan's Merman Banner and Jon Radler and Jason Winer from Small Dog Picture Company.
Vladimir: What do we know about this Rachel Weisz limited series so far?
Julia May Jonas’s debut, a bold and edgy novel about power and desire, will serve as the source material for Rachel Weisz's upcoming project from 20th Television Studio. The eponymous limited series will be a part of Netflix's catalog and will consist of eight episodes, per Deadline.
When speaking about this collaboration, Netflix's Comedy Series VP, Tracey Pakosta, said:
“With Kate Robin’s expertise in crafting layered, darkly comedic female stories, a script that deftly examines the complexity of attraction and moral ambiguities, and the incomparable Rachel Weisz leading the cast, this project is a powerhouse collaboration of talented women. We can’t wait for our fans to be as obsessed with it as we are.”
Bad Sisters showrunner and actress Sharon Horgan said:
“I fell in love with Julia’s writing from the very first paragraph. I feel very lucky and incredibly excited for Merman to bring Vladimir to life alongside Small Dog. Getting to partner with Netflix and have Rachel attached is a thrill and testament to the brilliance of the scripts.”
