America’s Got Talent fans must already know Richard Goodall, a 55-year-old janitor who won the Golden Buzzer for his spectacular audition.

Recently, Goodall shared how the America’s Got Talent season 19 music team has been helpful and shed light on his AGT journey. In an interview, with Parade magazine, he praised the music team of the show.

"It’s taken me a minute to get to where I am, but the AGT music team is phenomenal. They have been pulling stuff out of my backside I didn’t even know I had."

What did America’s Got Talent Season 19 Golden Buzzer winner Richard Goodall share?

Goodall, a janitor for more than 20 years, won the America’s Got Talent Season 19 Golden Buzzer and secured his spot on the live shows. While his performance stunned everyone, Richard also got quite emotional when Heidi Klum pressed the Golden Buzzer for his performance.

In his interview with Parade, Richard revealed that he had never been on a plane before and shared his journey from being a janitor to America’s Got Talent season 19 Golden Buzzer.

"Just wasn’t on my radar. So, that’s basically what happened."

Goodall has worked at Chauncey Rose Middle School for about 23 years. It is three blocks from his home, and he has sung to the kids for years. In 2022, one day, a teacher asked him if he wanted to sing on Veteran’s Day. Richard agreed and sang Don’t Stop Believin’ by Journey.

One of the teaching assistants in the audience filmed his performance. The next day, when he was scrubbing the 1st-grade floor, he learned that his performance video had 100,000 views, and before he knew more, there were over a million views.

When he had tried in 2009 after one of the show's producers asked him, Richard couldn’t make it past the first round. He mentioned that everyone, including the kids at school and his girlfriend Angie Vanoven, has always supported him.

The 55-year-old contestant also added that he was just "Mr. Richard" who was treating floors and changing bulbs, and now everything is "kind of different."

"That’s why I’m here. That’s why I got on a plane," shared Richard.

When Richard Goodall started singing and hit the first note, he shocked the audience and the judges. AGT host Terry Crews also cheered for Richard as he gave an outstanding, standing-ovation performance. Heidi Klum pressed the Golden Buzzer and said Richard had knocked her off her feet, and Sofia Vergara called the performance "spectacular."
