Peacock's fantasy comedy series Ted receives a major production update from showrunner Seth MacFarlane confirming that Season 2 filming has already been wrapped on his Instagram. The 2024 show serves as a prequel to the original feature films from 2012 and 2015, thereby expanding the franchise further.

MacFarlane has recently shared an update on his Instagram handle with a picture of the titular magical teddy (Ted). The post's caption reads:

"Today we wrap production on TED SEASON 2! Thanks to our stellar writers, cast, and crew for all their amazing work on the funniest season yet!"

The latest update has piqued the excitement among fans as they gear up for another round of fantasy and comedy-studded family drama. Further details on the plot and exact release date are still being kept under wraps.

According to reports, the second chapter was renewed earlier in May 2024, shortly after the first season aired on Peacock TV on January 11, 2024. John Jacobs has produced the show alongside writer-director, Seth MacFarlane, and Universal Content Productions in association with Fuzzy Door Productions.

More about the Ted Season 2

Director MacFarlane has reprised his voice role as the titular sentiment teddy (Ted) who comes to life owing to a wish made by a small friendless kid named John Bennett (adult John played by Mark Wahlberg in the original movie) on Christmas Day. The story further evolves beyond this and the 2024 show is a spin-off prequel starring Max Burkholder as the new John.

The official synopsis of Ted reads:

"It's 1993, and Ted the bear's moment of fame has passed. He's living back home with his best friend, John Bennett, and his family. While Ted may be a lousy influence on John, he's a loyal pal who will go out on a limb for friendship."

The 2024 show Ted stars director, Seth MacFarlane, who has returned to set as the voice of Ted. Among others in the cast, we have:

  • Max Burkholder as the protagonist John Bennett (played by Mark Wahlberg in the original movies)
  • Alana Ubach as Susan Bennett, John's mother
  • Scott Grimes as Matty Bennett, John's father
  • Giorgia Wigham as John's cousin Blaire Bennet

Any changes in the cast for Ted Season 2 are yet to be confirmed and following previous trends, the second chapter will premiere in early 2026, as per reports. CGI use and visual effects are reportedly a major part of the production owing to the portrayal of the titular teddy Ted.
