Good news was already on the way for fans as Netflix had announced Outer Banks Season 4 on February 19, 2023, at the Poguelandia fan event in Huntington Beach, California. It was just a few days before Season 3 aired on February 23, 2023.

The main cast, including Chase Stokes (John B.), Madelyn Cline (Sarah), and Rudy Pankow (JJ), surprised thousands of fans by announcing the renewal live on stage. Filming wrapped up on June 13, 2024, which was delayed due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, according to What's On Netflix. Cullen Moss, who plays Deputy Shoupe, also confirmed this via an Instagram post.

The new season is set to drop in fall 2024. The Pogues are back with two sets of five episodes—Part 1 comes out on October 10, and Part 2 hits the streaming platform on November 7. Netflix has already dropped a teaser that gives us a sneak peek at all the thrilling drama coming our way.

As John B says in the teaser that dropped 13 hours ago, as of the time of writing,

“We've got everything to lose this time.”

Outer Banks Season 4 jumps ahead 18 months from the Season 3 finale. The Pogues are still dealing with the losses of Ward and Big John. After finally discovering the gold at El Dorado, they head back to the OBX, with the feeling that the worst is behind them.

However, as the teaser reminds us,

"It was just the beginning."

Their shot at a "normal" life doesn’t last long. It's because money troubles and Wes Genrette's (David Jensen) offer to go after Blackbeard's treasure drag them back into the risky treasure-hunting scene. With new enemies, the Pogues rethink everything about their past, present, and future.

Shannon Burke, one of the co-creators, pointed out that Season 3 was the emotional side of things.

"It's really about the bond between the friends," Burke told Tudum.

The creators also mentioned they wanted the audience to feel proud of the Pogues, but also get excited about the challenges coming up in season 4, which the teaser now hints at.
