In The Shadow Of The Cypress has made its way to the top spot and bagged the Best Animated Short award at Oscars 2025. Other nominees in the category were Magic Candies, Yuck!, Beautiful Men and Wander to Wonder.

Spiderman star Andrew Garfield presented the award alongside visionary actress Goldie Hawn and fans witnessed a heartwarming moment on stage as the Iranian short by Hossein Molayemi made history. It is important to note that Shirin Sohani landed a major contribution to the success of In The Shadow Of The Cypress.

The 20-minute short film has dived into themes related to PTSD with a father-daughter duo at the center of it all. The short film delves into the kind of mental and physical challenges they face while living at sea, isolated from the world. This Academy Award win makes history as it is the first time Irianian filmmakers have bagged a prestigious award in this category.

Earlier, In The Shadown Of The Cypress earned major accolades at the LA Shorts International Film Festival, Lebu International Film Festival and Tribeca Film Festival. It also left quite the impression by bagging multiple nominations at the Venice International Film Fesitval, Annie Awards, Anency International Animation Film Festival, Melbourne International Film Festival and Clermond Ferrand International Film Festival.
