Disney+'s A Thousand Blows, created by Stephen Knight, is the talk of the town right now and for all the right reasons. A period drama set in Victorian London, which follows the underground world of bare-knuckle boxing, it ticks all the boxes.

And it looks like actor Malachi Kirby, who plays the protagonist Hezekiah Moscow, was also impressed by the script. In a recent interview with BleedingCool, he noted:

''It's one of the easiest yeses that I've ever made in my career, if I'm honest.''

Kirby's character is based on the real-life boxer, Hezekiah Moscow. He travels from Jamaica to London with his friend Alec and tries to make ends meet in the brutal city together.

With everybody wanting to land a role in a show with Knight, the man behind shows like Peaky Blinders, working on A Thousand Blows was a dream project for Kirby because it ticked all four boxes for him.

Here's everything about how Kirby landed a role in A Thousand Blows.

Kirby then discussed how the script for A Thousand Blows ticked all four boxes for him (via Bleeding Cool):

''I had four things I wanted to do next that I shared with them, one, was to play a boxer. Second, to play a real-life person who really existed, Third, to do a period drama, and last, to film in London. When I read the script [for 'A Thousand Blows'] and it had all four of those components in it, I was like, "Okay, this feels like an alignment. This is everything that I've been looking for!"

Opening some more about his experience working with the man himself, Stephen Knight, he noted:

''Oh man, it's been an honor, honestly. He is more than just a writer. He's an artist, poet, truth teller. It was a pleasure to bring his words to life and bring the world that he's created to life.''

Kirby is joined by actor Stephen Graham, who plays the role of Henry 'Sugar' Goodson, the ruthless boxer and the king of London's underbelly boxing scene.

The show has a total of six episodes and is available to stream on Disney+. It is partly based on real-life events in London in the 1880s when the Forty Elephants, an all-female thieves group, was at their prime.

After moving to London, Moscow gets involved with their boss, Mary Carr, and decides to go up against Sugar in knuckle-boxing.
